City GAA Board Notes

A full attendance was had at the Boards meeting last Monday evening at the Woodfield house hotel when all City divisional club delegates were in full attendance. The following is the delegates for each club for Abbey Sarsfields we had Morgan Portley, Ballinacurra Gaels: Denis Broderick, Ballybrown: Ted Hedderman & Pat McCarthy, Claughaun: John O Brien, Crecora: Sean Bourke, Kildimo: Paul Walsh, Milford: Eamonn Hawe, Monaleen: Pat Quinn, Mungret: Tony McMahon, Na Piarsaigh: Michael Broderick, Old Christians: James O Donoghue, Pallaskenry: Ger O Dowd, Patrickswell: Martin Ryan and St. Patrick’s: Larry Cross. At the meeting their congratulations were had for the Monaleen club on their question team on reaching the Munster senior Scór final and also to Ardscoil Ris on winning the Dr. Harty Cup final following their great 3-15 to 0-14 victory over Thurles C.B.S. and specially to the City division club players as in Mark Carmody and Sean O Brien of Patrickswell, Eoghan McCarthy from Mungret and Alan Dempsey, Mark Ryan, Adrian Breen, Shane Dowling, Kevin Downes, Ciarán Keogh, David Sheppard, Kevin McNamara from the Na Piarsaigh club The Bord would like to wish Ardscoil the very best in their quest for all Ireland title when they will face Kilkenny C.B.S. this weekend. Both Limerick senior teams suffered defeats last weekend with the hurlers going down to Waterford. City divisional players who wore the Green of Limerick were David Lynch (Na Piarsaigh) Des Kenny (Ballybrown) Alan O Connor (Ballybrown) Cian Hayes (Kildimo) Peter Harty (Patrickswell) Thomas O Brien (Patrickswell) and Richard McKeogh (Kildimo). On Saturday evening last the senior footballers also came second to Waterford. City divisional players who wore the Green of Limerick were Brendan Moran (Mungret/St.Paul’s) John Mullane (St.Patrick’s) and Ger Collins (Milford). Congratulations to the Limerick under 21 footballers on their great victory over Clare and will now go on to meet Tipperary on this Thursday evening in the Munster semi final. City divisional players who wore the Green of Limerick were Michael McCormack (Crecora) Brian Treacy (Mungret) & Donal Byrne (Monaleen). The first round draw was made for the City under 21 football championship with only five clubs entered due to the county premier championship the first round games will see Claughaun facing Killulta Gaels and Monaleen taking on Na Piarsaigh. St. Patrick’s will have a bye in the first round. This championship will have a later start this year when the first round will take place on September 7th.
