St. Patrick's GAA Club Notes

St Patrick's Underage Street League continued last Sunday with the clubs Under 10 and Under 12 Hurlers demonstrating their skills on the clubs pitch in Garryowen. A bigger turnout of players from the previous Sunday provided an entertaining afternoons hurling for many of the Mothers that came down to watch on Mothers Day. The Street League continues next weekend at 2.30p.m in Garryowen and new players are welcome to come along and join in the fun. Our Under 10 and Under 12 Hurlers are marching again this year in the St Patrick's Day Parade. Any child that would like to march with St Patrick's GAA is asked to meet at St Johns Cathedral at 10.30 a.m sharp. The street league games will run for 2 more weeks on Sunday's and each child will receive a hurley on completion of the league on the final day. A special mention must go to our underage committee for the great work on promoting our games to the Boy's and Girl's in the Garryowen, Rhebogue, Lower Park and Dublin Road areas. A another big turnout at the clubs foundation level coaching course last Thursday evening held at the clubhouse. This course in which Pat Culhane of the Munster GAA is the tutor the second session is scheduled for this Thursday 18th March at 7 p.m. is gain this  with at St. Patrick's Boy's School. The club is trying to target existing coaches that have not completed the foundation level course and also trying to target any new coaches it was great to clubs minor and 21 players at the course if you are still interested in getting involved at underage please contact Christopher Mortell at 0868068245 A.S.A.P. Our under 12, 14 and 16s Girls Gaelic football team are training away in our Garryowen Pitch every Saturday evening at 2 p.m. and are now looking forward to their first game when the under 14 girls team are inaction on March 31st away to Murroe/Boher while our under 16 Girls team are away to Ahane on April 12th. Our under 14s hurling and Gaelic football teams are training at St Patricks GAA pitch in Rhebogue on Saturday evenings at 5pm with our under 16 team please contact Peter Sheehan at 0856080512 for more information. Our under 6, 7 & 8 hurlers are indoors at the CBS hall Sexton Street every Friday evenings at 7.30p.m. Our under 9, 10, 11, 12 hurling and Gaelic football teams are at Patricks GAA field in Rhebogue every Saturday evening at 4p.m for information contact Chris Mortell at 0868068245. Our under 12 football team are in group 5 with Kildimo, Mungret B, Old Christians, Na Piarsaigh B, Monaleen B, Pallaskenry and Abbey Sarsfields. While our under 12 hurlers are in group 5 with Blackrock, Hospital/Herbertstown, Cahirline, Cappamore, Glenroe, Fedamore, Knockainey and Kilteely/Dromkeen. These cluster games are to keep clubs as close to each other as possible, our group in hurling has no other City team in that group which is unfair to our club to travel to these games. It's great to see all our adult team's senior & junior footballers junior & under 21 hurlers back on the field training for this coming season both on Tuesday and Friday evenings. Our senior footballers are training on Wednesdays and Saturdays and will open their all county league with a home game against Monaleen on March 30th. To all playing members, the club membership is once again due with family membership at Eu50 Adults at Eu40 unemployed at Eu25 Minor & Students at Eu15 and O.A.P. at Eu10. Closing date for membership is March 31st and it is vital that all playing members to pay their membership before the playing season starts. Please contact club secretary Eamonn Phelan or Club Treasurer Jack Sheehan as soon as you can to pay your membership for 2010 there only two weeks left.
