Na Piarsaigh, Limerick Club Notes

Congratulations to Ardscoil Ris and our 8 panelists in the historic achievement of winning of the Dr Harty Cup after a 2nd replay last Thursday. 7 of the 8 figured in the 3rd epic meeting with Thurles CBS with Alan Dempsey, Shane Dowling, Mark Ryan, Adrian Breen and Kevin Downes starting and Ciaran Keogh and David Sheppard introduced. Kevin McNamara, the youngest member has several more Harty Cup campaigns to look forward to.  Kevin Downes chipped in with 1-2, Mark Ryan with a man of the match display scored 1-1, Shane Dowling and Adrian Breen scored a point each with Alan Dempsey not giving an inch in the corner.  The 8 members brought the cup to the club on Saturday morning and greeted the underage players. Best wishes to the lads and Ardscoil Ris in the All-Ireland Dr. Croke series.   Under 14 hurlers got their feile campaign off to  a good start on Saturday evening ith a fine win over Crecora. Played in Pairc Drumguil in near perfect conditions the side started the game really fired up and a goal and three from Ronan Lynch and four  points from the stick of Peter Casey saw the game closed out in the first ten minutes of time. Crecora battled hard though and it was our half back line that put in a tremondous display wiith Michael Andrews leading a very solid defence. Na Piarsaigh went in at the break 1-11 to 0-0.   Kieran Daly was having a great game in the centre of the park and secured some great possession which saw Jamie Bromell and Patrick O'Connor  hit the net for Na Piarsaigh in the second half . Crecora  scored two points in the second period and the final score was Na Piarsaigh 4-14  Crecora 0-2. Scorers Ronan Lynch 2-7 (2f), Peter Casey 0-6, Jamie Bromell 1-0, Patrick O'Connor 1-0, Thomas Grimes 0-1. They now advance to play Mungret in the Quarter finals next weekend.   Congratulations to clubman and former player manager of our Intermediate footballers, Marurice Horan who guided Limerick U/21 footballers past Clare in the first round of the Munster championship last week.   Our U/21 hurlers will be in action against Mungret in  round 1 of the Co. U/21 hurling championship in the Gaelic Grounds on Tuesday March 23rd at 6:30p Our U/12 hurlers will play Moycarkey-Borris from Tipperary in a challenge game next Sunday at 11am in Caherdavin.
