Pressure continues to mount on McCarthy

Limerick hurling manager Justin McCarthy keeps an eye on his troops
Limerick hurling boss Justin McCarthy came under further pressure last night as it became clear that a special county board meeting had been arranged.

The indications now are that the requisite five clubs have submitted their letters to the board secretary Mike O'Riordan requesting that a special meeting be arranged, with Garryspilllane understood to be the first club to do so.

In order for a special meeting to be held, a minimum of five clubs must submit requests and this meeting it is likely that McCarthy's fate is set to be decided if a vote - presumably of no confidence in his tenure - takes place

A vote on McCarthy's tenure took place last December, when it was decided to keep the current management in their position.

McCarthy will be on the sidelines at Fraher Field this Sunday as his team go in search of their first win in the NHL against Waterford in round three of Division One.
