O'Connor is new Treaty U21 boss
March 27, 2009
Leo O'Connor has been appointed as Limerick's Under 21 hurling manager for the 2009 season.
O'Connor, a former inter-county hurler, was appointed at last Monday night's meeting of the Limerick County Board and replaces Ciaran Carey in the role, after he's stepped down in January.
The Claughaun clubman holds All-Ireland medals at Under 21 and minor level and was involved with Treaty County's senior hurlers in the mid-90's when Tom Ryan managed the county to two All-Ireland finals at Croke Park.
As a manager, O'Connor brought Mungret to an intermediate semi-final last season, after the club had struggled to survive relegation the previous year, and is also in charge of the Limerick Under 17 hurling squad.
Limerick's first championship outing if the year is on July 15 when they will face Clare in the semi-finals of Munster Under 21 Hurling Championship.
