'Sparrow' quits Adare

March 04, 2009
Former Clare hurling star Ger 'Sparrow' O'Loughlin has stepped down as manager of Limerick senior hurling champions Adare. During his two years in charge, O'Loughlin led Adare to back-to-back Limerick SHC successes, and also guided them to a Munster club final appearance at the end of last year. Speaking at the club's annual dinner dance in Fitzgerald's Woodlands House Hotel, the Clarecastle man said: "At this stage, winning county titles is grand but Adare are a team with the potential - as evident from their county wins at U-12, U-14 and U-16 last season - to take their place on the bigger stage, and by that I mean setting goals for themselves in terms of winning a Munster and All-Ireland championship. "With the right commitment and attitude, these targets are achievable." Adare expect to announce a new management team ahead of the start of the All-County Hurling League next month.
