SENIOR HURLERS: The County Championship semi-final will pit Patrickswell against Doon on Sunday September 22 at 2pm at the LIT Gaelic Grounds. Please support our biggest match of the season.

JUNIOR A HURLERS: The Junior A hurlers were denied a place in the City Championship final when Mungret produced a late equaliser to force a replay. Gavin Carey opened the Patrickswell account with a point after four minutes, but Mungret replied shortly afterwards. Cian Enright put the 'Well ahead with another point; however our opponents notched up three quick scores to lead by 0-4 to 0-2 by the fifteenth minute. The 'Well increased their tempo and were rewarded by three unanswered points from Darragh Ahern (0-1) and the evergreen Barry Foley (0-2). Mungret halted the surge by scoring a point, although David Woulfe and Barry Foley contributed additional points to extend the lead at 0-7 to 0-5. There was a flurry of activity just before half-time, with Mungret claiming 1-2 in quick succession.  Patrickswell were now in arrears. David Woulfe snatched a late point, which was cancelled out by the interval.  The scoreboard at the break displayed a 1-8 to 0-8 deficit.

The second half began positively for Patrickswell as Barry Foley recorded a point.  Mungret responded almost immediately, before Peter Harty produced two points in quick succession. At the forty minute mark, Anthony Carmody's men trailed by just 1-9 to 0-11. The rate of scoring slowed down over the next ten minutes.  Despite Mungret increasing their advantage to two points, Barry Foley and Peter Harty drew the 'Well level at 0-13 to 1-10. Mungret crept ahead again, but they were left reeling by a Peter Harty goal on fifty minutes.  Our opponents composed themselves and scored two points to equalise at 1-13 apiece before injury time. Every breaking ball was fiercely contested. Peter Harty's free at the beginning of injury time put the 'Well into the lead. Mungret were still battling hard for a final opportunity to score.  In the sixth minute of injury time, they earned a free and it was despatched over the bar to secure a replay.

MINOR HURLERS: Patrickswell met neighbours Ballybrown in the semi-final of the Premier Minor Championship at the Gaelic Grounds. Our parish rivals scored the first point, but Patrick Kirby immediately equalised with a free. Ballybrown added two points to their total before Eoin Harmon pulled a score back. After ten minutes, the Clarina men held a 0-3 to 0-2 lead. There was a further exchange of points; however Ballybrown then added three unanswered points within four minutes.  Our neighbours were 0-7 to 0-3 ahead, with five minutes left in the opening half. Niall Kerins stemmed the tide with his first point of the match, although Ballybrown turned up the heat with another three straight points.  Patrick Kirby's point on the stroke of half-time trimmed the deficit to 0-10 to 0-5.  Unfortunately, Ballybrown had sufficient time to accrue two more points.  The half-time score was 0-12 to 0-5.

Patrick Kirby started a recovery at the beginning of the second half with a trio of frees. Patrickswell were trailing by just four points when Ballybrown delivered a devastating goal.  There was still twenty minutes on the clock and John Murphy's team were seven points adrift at 1-12 to 0-8. Three more Patrick Kirby frees were interspersed with two Ballybrown points. The stadium clock was at fifty minutes and the 'Well were still 1-14 to 0-11 behind. The game ended as a contest when Ballybrown's second goal opened an unassailable nine-point lead. The goal was followed by three fresh Ballybrown points. Eoin Harmon's late point produced a final score of 2-17 to 0-12.  Hard luck to the players and management.
