Kildimo/Pallaskenry club notes

June 17, 2019

FÉILE PEIL NA NÓG: It’s just two weeks to the Féile Peil na nÓg for which our U-14 footballers have qualified for. On Friday June 28 at 5pm, we open our campaign in Kent Park, Sligo against St. Mary’s. We will follow that up at 7pm in the same venue with a game against Clonguish.

The following morning, Saturday June 29 at 10.45am, we will be hosted by Breaffy of Mayo and will play them that morning. Further fixtures are dependent on results in the first three group games. It is a huge achievement by this group to even have made it this year and we wish them every success in two weeks time. We are certain they will do the club proud, and we would welcome any club members who wish to travel in support of this hugely-talented group.

LIMERICK SENIOR HURLERS: There was disappointment for Kyle Hayes and the Limerick hurlers as they fell to Tipp in Thurles by four points, but they will have a chance to do it all again in the Munster final in two weeks time.

LIMERICK SENIOR FOOTBALLERS: The Limerick senior footballers including our own John Chawke, Tony McCarthy and Peter Nash are out again next weekend, Saturday June 22 at 6pm in Cusack Park, Mullingar against Westmeath. With a win and a loss already in Championship, this is a chance to progress to Round 3 of the qualifiers and make the last 16.

CELTIC CHALLENGE: A huge congratulations to Aaron O’Donovan who scored 3-3 for the Limerick Sarsfields team who defeated Carlow in the Celtic Challenge on a 5-18 to 0-9 scoreline at the weekend. It was a brilliant individual display by the young full-forward and also a great team performance by the side, which is coached by our own Peter Nash.

ALL-COUNTY HURLING LEAGUE DIVISION 3: Kildimo/Pallaskenry 1-18 Effin 1-21. Our hurlers returned to league action at the weekend, still minus a lot of players due to county commitments, leaving certificate and injuries but put in a creditable performance, scoring 1-18 but Effin came out on top. Jack O’Keeffe was top scorer with 0-11, including 0-4 from play, while Keel Moloney hit 1-1. There were also good performances from the likes of Kevin O’Connell at full-back and Ryan Kelly at corner-forward.

U-14 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP: Kildimo/Pallaskenry 3-8 Monaleen 2-9. Our U-14 footballers had yet another victory in Division 1 of the Championship, which sets them up nicely for Féile in a couple of weeks. They now sit on top of the table, alongside Fr. Casey’s and now also have a county final to look forward to. This is a serious team, who are continuously racking up good results but also playing football in the right way.

CLUB LOTTO: The lotto numbers on 10 June 2019 were 6, 7, 10 and 32. There was no winner of the overall draw, while the winners of the €25 lucky dips were Rachel C, E O & C Hickey, J McAuley and Shannon O’Brien.

The jackpot has now reached a fantastic €17,000 for next week’s draw in Clancy’s! You have to be in to win! Please continue to support the club lotto, which is the most vital source of funds to fund all our teams from U-6 up to adult grade! An annual subscription is just €100 (€50 for 6 months, €25 per quarter or €8.50 per month) and a subscription form can be requested from any lotto seller or committee member.

REGISTRATION: The deadline for registration has now passed; anybody who has not registered or paid, please do so as soon as possible as unregistered players are ineligible to take the field or to train with the club.

CLUB LIMERICK DRAW: Sadly, there was no club winner in the Club Limerick draw for May, which took place at the weekend. However, there is no better way to support both and show our players you’re right behind them all the way. Kildimo Pallaskenry GAA is very fortunate to have a number of players involved with county teams in both hurling and football across a number of grades. Join the CLUB Limerick Draw online or with any club committee member. Support your club and county teams!
