U-14 HURLING: Caherline U14s played South Liberties yesterday evening in the third round of the U14 championship. The match was played in perfect conditions for hurling and both sides produced a close and exciting game. South Liberties had the best of the opening exchanges and got themselves into a 3 point lead. However, Caherline came more into the game as the half wore on and after some excellent passages of play and some well taken scores, Caherline got back to within a point of South Liberties. Liberties re-established their lead with a goal and by half time led by 6 points. Caherline stormed out of the blocks in the second half scoring 4 unanswered points. The Caherline boys were now playing very well and their fast paced open hurling was keeping the South Liberties defense busy. A goal for Caherline duly arrived through a long range shot from Conor Martin. However, Liberties managed to pick off a couple of points on the break and entering into the closing minutes were 3 points ahead. Caherline piled on the pressure for those final minutes and had a penalty and 21 yard free saved and were very unlucky not to get a draw at the very least. Final score was Caherline 1-08 South Liberties 1-11. Very well done to all the players and they should be very proud of the hurling they played on the night against a strong South Liberties team bolstered by a number of Ballinacurra Gaels players.

Panel on the day was:Thomas Carroll, Stephen McAnulty, Alan Whelan, Tiernan Donovan, Sean Partridge, Niall Connaughton, Aaron Kearney, Hugh Murnane (0-4), Conor Martin (1-0), Sam McElligott, Sean McGrath (0-1), Kieran Godfrey, Andy Foley (0-1), Zack Vaughan, Tadhg Spencer, Jack McElligott (0-2), Josh Halvey, Alex Murnane. Next up for the lads is an away game this Wednesday against St Kierans, throw-in at 7:15pm in Ardagh.

U-11 HURLING: Caherline U-11's played their first game of the year on Saturday morning last and it was fantastic to be able to field a 15 aside team with a number of subs, even with a couple of players missing. We welcomed Na Piarsaigh, a very strong side, who had 16/17 11 year olds and even though they won well, the Caherline side were more than competitive; the future is bright in our club, well done to all the players.

U-10 HURLING: Caherline Gaa would like to extend their thanks to A & J Crowe Aluminum & PVC, who have generously sponsored a set of jerseys for our U-10 team. Andy presented the jerseys to Brendan, Paddy, Ian & Nick on Friday evening last after training. Thank you Andy & team, the lads will give them their first run out next weekend in Naas.

On Saturday next, June 16th, our U-10's head for Naas to take part in their U-10 hurling tournament. The Bus will leave Caherconlish at 7:30am sharp, as we need to be there & ready to start at 10am. All going well, the bus should be leaving Naas again around 4pm.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Caherline hurling pitch is closed for all matches and training from Monday June 11th to Sunday June 17th inclusive to facilitate drainage works.
