Ciaran Carey shouts his instructions

Tom Ryan reckons Limerick hurling legend Ciaran Carey would have a 'mighty chance' of being elected to the Dáil if he decides to run for Fianna Fail in the next general election.

Carey is believed to be considering running as an Independent candidate in the four-seater Limerick city constituency, but his former inter-county manager Tom Ryan feels he would have a better chance if he joined Willie O'Dea on the Fianna Fail ticket.

"If himself and Willie were on the ticket, he would come in," Ryan predicted in the Limerick Leader.

"He is very well-known, he is very capable, is involved in an awful lot of social issues and activity at the moment. He has a great profile."
