This Saturday will see the Leitrim hurlers step out for the first time ever in the Nicky Rackard Cup, despite the fact that the county wanted to remain in the Lory Meagher Cup.
The Connacht side head north to take on Donegal in Letterkenny and they will go into this campaign as huge underdogs.
Donegal hammered Tyrone in their opening game last weekend and they are favourites to see off the challenge of Leitrim.
Leitrim were moved up a grade by Croke Park even though they were happy to stay in the Lory Meagher which they had a realistic chance of winning.
Last year, they were defeated by Warwickshire in the final, but they have still been promoted which sees seven counties take part in the Nicky Rackard Cup campaign.
Leitrim are in a group of three, which means they could possibly have as little as two games in the championship compared to the five they had last year.
