The late Pat Cull The parish was once again plunged into sadness with the news that Pat Cull had passed away. In failing health for the past few years, Pat put up a brave battle to fight his illness. His death comes only a few weeks after John Gormley, both men served the club and community well in their life times. Pat served as Chairman for a number of years also as team manager, County Board delegate, he was also Chairman of Bord na nOg, and treasurer of the Senior Bord. He helped to bring the first U12 team to Aughnasheelin and followed it up with various other teams. He was also an accomplished hurler, he was captain of the St Bridget's side, winning the title in 1972. He played a big part in starting up the Group Water Scheme, with the late Fr Hugh Brady. Pat travelled up the mountain on his trusty 20 diesel tractor. In the early years, Pat attended school in Blackrock College, also at that same school was a young lad by the name of Tony O'Reilly, better known as Sir Anthony O'Reilly. Pat was deeply involved in the purchase and development of the present football pitch, in his youth he played minor football for Leitrim and at the end of his playing days he took up refereeing.
