Higgins, Niall

April 06, 2007
The late Niall Higgins The club and community are still in shock at the awful tragedy that befell the Higgins family when Niall lost his brave fight for his life in Beaumount Hospital. To Paddy, Mairead, Conor, Ryan, Gareth and the extended Higgins and Byers families, we convey our heartfelt condolences, at a time when no words can express how we are all feeling. The presence of neighbouring GAA Clubs in Leitrim Gaels, Kiltubrid and Ballinaglera as well as Carrick Town Soccer Club and members of Drumshambo Vocational School Volleyball team, in the Guard of Honour, gave an indication of the breath of his athletic ability. The enormous turnout of class-mates and school friends was a testament to his personable nature. HE represented his club and county with distinction. He had already played senior championship with Allen Gales at the tender age of 17 and was destined to become a regular on the senior team in years ahead. The huge attendance at the removal and funeral were indicative of the esteem in which Niall and his family are held in that area and our thoughts and prayers remain with them in the difficult and trying times ahead.
