The late Billy McGowan One of the Mohill clubs honourary Presidents and club legend Billy McGowan sadly passed away at his residence in Mohill. Just a few weeks shy of his 90th birthday. Billy enjoyed a marathon playing career with the Mohill Club spanning four decades, the 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's. During which time he forged a reputation for himself as a teak tough full-back and a dynamic goalscoring full-forward blessed with immense physical strength. Billy's sons Liam and Brendan are both former club players and indeed Brendan who won a senior medal with Mohill in 1971 played alongside his dad during the 60's and indeed Billy was a father figure to many players over the years. Billy's sister Teresa Bohan in a Club and former County Board President while granddaughter Teresa is also a former Club Officer. To daughters Eilish, Patsy, sons Liam and Brendan, sisters Bridie, Lily, Teresa and all other family members, we extend our deepest sympathy. Courtesy of the Leitrim Observer 10 March 2007
