Holahan, Josie

The Late Josie Hola There was widespread regret in his native Drumlea and the surrounding parished at the death of Mr Josie Holahan which occurred at his residence, Drumlea, following a brief illness. He was a member of a very popular Holahan family, son of the late Jimmy Holahan who was a County Councillor for many years. The late Josie was a member of the staff of the well known McCartin Brothers, Millers, Newtowngore and was also a lorry driver delivering their meals to all the neighbouring towns and country shops. He was also a bus driver for the late Ned Maguire of Erne Bus Service, Carrigallen. He was a star footballer on the Drumreilly Senior Football team as a full back and was also capable at holding his won in many other positions on the field, a gentleman on and off the field. he was also a great supporter of his local team and the Leitrim Senior team rarely missing a game when Leitrim were playing let it be Croke Park, London or any where over the neighbouring countries. Sympathy is extended to his wife, Kitty, sons Gerard, Aiden and Padraig, daughters Mary, Michelle and Joanne, grandchildren, daughters-in-law and sons-in-law and a large family circle. The removal of remains and funeral following Requiem Mass was large and representative in Saint Mary's Church, Drumlea. Burial took place a adjoining cemetery. Very Rev D. Murray P.P. and Rev.
