Mohill club notes

April 24, 2017

Lipz Sync fundraisers have commenced and the first of these was a table quiz organised by Jimmy Stenson in OBriens Tavern. We thank Phil O Brien who has sponsored Jimmy. It was a well organised event with great questions from Adrian McCaffrey. The Stenson family helped co-ordinate everything and there were great spot prizes. Jimmy's next event is Bingo in Eslin Community Centre on Sunday May 14.

Féile peil na nÓg

Our U 14s have qualified for Féile in Monaghan with wins over Manor on Friday last in the preliminary game, then on Saturday in COE Annaduff they got the better of a strong Carrick team in the semi and an under-strength Allen Gaels side in the final. The game with Carrick was very close and could have gone either way but for brilliant defending and great saves from Shane Moran in goal. The panel and cumulative scoring was: S Moran, J Rowley 0-1, J Foy, F Cassells, B Donohue, S Bohan 0-1, G Reynolds,C Keegan, C Quinn 0-1, A McCrann 0-4, D Duignan 1-0, T McNabola 0-1, K Curran 0-2, M Murphy 1-1, C Macklin 3-0, B David, P Reynolds, S Curran, A McGuinness.

Under 13

These young men came up against a very strong talented Gortletteragh side during the week in the League. They gave a great account of themselves and there was only five points between the teams at the final whistle. Scorers were: Colin McNamara 1-1, Matthew Murphy 0-4, Tommy McNabola 0-2, Adam Mc Guinness 0-1.

Div 1

This team travelled to Carrick and played St Mary's chalking up another victory. Carrick generally keep their good wine until the Championship and that was their story on Sunday morning last. Nice to see Evan Harkin, Seán Harkin and Tadhg Mulligan, all making their debuts in this top division. Scorers were, Keith Beirne 0-9, Ronan Kennedy 1-2, Barry Lupton 1-1, Alan McLoughlin 0-1, Shane Quinn 0-2, Domhnaill Flynn 0-1 and Keith Keegan 0-1

Recent bereavements

We extend our deepest sympathy to Kathleen Cosgrave her husband Gerry and their children Amy and Jamie on the death of her darling mother Kathleen Reilly from Ballygar who passed away at Easter. The Cosgrave family have been involved in all the workings of the club over many years. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh sí
