Barney Breen says the Connact SFC final is the carrot dangling in front of Leitrim now.
Having eased past New York in their provincial championship opener, Leitrim are up against Sligo or London next for a place in the final and co-manager Breen admits that the prospect of appearing in the Connacht decider is all the motivation his players need:
"There's a carrot out in front of them now and we have a number of weeks to get ready for the next round, so the lads will be chomping at the bit," Breen told The Leitrim Observer after the victory in New York.
"We had to get this one out of the way. The whole thing was that if we can get the win and come out of the weekend hassle-free, then it will have been worthwhile and we can use it for a bit of relaxation.
"We have seven weeks now to prepare. There is a lot of hard work to be done.
"We're working very hard as a unit and we've as strong a squad as we've had in ages. If we can stay injury-free and keep everyone on board, there is no reason why we cannot give it a good rattle."
