Wedding Bells

We congratulate former player Niall (Chips) McGovern and Breege Kilkenny who were married last week. Due to the situation in the world today Niall had to cut down drastically on his numbers so there was some people disappointed but the wedding went ahead and we wish them a life full of joy and happiness.  Niall was one of the best defenders ever to don the Mohill jersey. He made his debut in 1995 with Luke Early’s U10s. He played for many years at all grades, representing club and county at U16, Minor and U21. The highlight of his career was winning the County Championship in 2006. Like so many other players, Niall spent some years in Australia and has played in Dublin these last few years. The good news is that Niall has transferred back to Mohill and will play for the forthcoming season whenever that will be.

Joyful news

In the midst of this pandemic we also have great joy with three couples who have associations with Mohill GAA having been blessed this week with little babies. Former great John McGuinness and his partner Niamh Cunningham welcomed the arrival of Baby Nessa on Wednesday last. A sister for Blaithín and a second granddaughter for his mother Phil. We wish this lovely family great happiness in the years to come. On the same day Joanne Tyrell and her partner Marc Fowler were blessed with the arrival of baby Maise Lou. Grandma Lucia our great physio and husband Gerry are overjoyed as is Marc’s mother Tina Molloy and all the aunties, uncles and cousins. They deserve every happiness. Then a day later another great footballing lady Phillis Berry (nee McGarry) and her partner Padraig became the proud parents a baby boy Luca Neil. The baby will have the football genes from both sides as Padraig is a Longford great from Abbeylara. May God Bless them all.
