Leitrim came up trumps for the second time this year against Wicklow in the qualifiers on Saturday. They have drawn Clare in the next round which will surely bring a good crowd to Carrick. Well done to Cathal, Jack and the panel on the win and best of luck to the team and management in their prep for the next round.

The Hurlers have also made it back to Croke Park with a win over Fermanagh securing a place in the Lory Meagher Final against Warwickshire on Saturday 22nd. Best of luck to the panel including Kevin and former Rinn Gaels underage  and Bornacoola man Cian Marlon in their prep for the final.

Under 15's League Win

After treating us to many entertaining games in the Division 1 League, our U15s took on Mac Diarmada Gaels, an amalgamation of  Kiltubrid and  Ballinamore in Páirc Seán on June Bank Holiday Sunday at 12 o’clock. We played our first half against a very strong wind, yet over came the conditions and found the back of the net twice, along with three points but MacDiarmada Gaels kept in touch with their own scores to ensure it was all square at half time, Gortletteragh 2-03  Mac Diarmada Gaels 0-09.

In the second half, with the wind on our backs we started to control more of the game and went 5 points up with some fabulous score taking. Mac Diarmada Gaels weren’t going to lie down , they were camped in our half for ten minutes and cut the gap to 2 points. They piled on the pressure but we pounced and hit a fourth goal of the game to leave us 5 ahead at the final whistle.

Full time Gortletteragh 4-07 Mac Diarmada Gaels 1-11.

Huge congratulations goes to this group of players on winning the Division 1 League for our first time and to the outstanding job our coaches Frank Niblock, Eamonn Reynolds, Gerard Campbell and Seamus Gannon, who have done a fantastic job with the lads so far this year. Congratulations to all.

U15 Panel Riaghan Ward , Andrew Liu Doyle, Conor Niblock, Luke McManus, Matthew Davis, Daire Heslin, Ryan Cunningham, Cian McNulty, Nathan Ward, Tom Crowe, Brendan Naughton, Jonathan Boyle, Jack Reynolds, Ciarán Reynolds, Noah McNulty, David Liu Doyle, Cian Tierney, Conor Fanning, Adam Bohan, Nathan Ryan, Jack Gannon, Ryan Fanning. Big thanks to Sean Clarke and Gavin Mitchell for providing the food and use of the premises after the final and all that helped out on the day.

Esquires U12 Cross Border League.

Our U12 Gortletteragh and Bornacoola amalgamation took on Wolfe Tones Mostrim in Devine Park, Edgeworthstown, last Thursday evening. We were up against a much bigger and stronger side but that didn’t stop our lads from moving the ball around and taking their scores. Half time score 05-05. It was hard to keep track of the score with the new rules introduced with a goal worth 1 point , a point from outside the semicircle worth 2 points and a point scored from anywhere else standing at a point. As our boys adjusted to the new rules we started to pick a few nice 2 pointers off. Final score Rinn Gaels 20 - wolf tones 10. Next up is Mac  Diarmada Gaels this  thursday evening. Venue to be confirmed.

Leitrim GAA U13 / U14 Regional Competition

We are playing in the U13 and U14 Regional competition as with Southern Gaels. Our first game was last Tuesday evening in Annaduff versus  Sliabh an Iarainn. The conditions for football was very hard with  heavy rain. After a tough hour of football we came out the wrong end with a score line of 3-05 to 3-11

The U14s played after U13s at the same venue. They had a better outcome with the final score 6-10 to 1-05.

Under 11

Our U11s has a blitz in Ballinamore last Saturday morning and competed very well with Cloone and Sean O’Heslins. Well done lads keep up the good work.

Eircode Scanning

Eircode Scanning of items so as to prevent theft and mark ownership will take place at the park on Friday evening the 14th June from 7-9. Items that your Eircode can be imprinted on include trailers, tools, machinery, etc. and must be brought on the evening.

Congratulations

To club player and county 'keeper Cathal McCrann and his wife Olivia on the birth of their daughter Aoibh, a little sister for Dara and Fionn.

Comhbrón

We sympathise with the Mallon family, Clooncarne, Bornacoola and our neighbours in Bornacoola GAA and community on the sad passing of Mary Mallon last week. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
