McHugh, Richard

November 30, 2007
It was with deep sadness and shock that the parishes of Raheen, Abbeyleix and surrounding areas learned of the sudden and untimely death of Richard McHugh, late of Corbally, Abbeyleix on Friday, October 26 2007. Richard was a well known and respected member of the local farming community. He was also well known in local GAA circles, having furled for Colt for a number of years and later for Abbeyleix, but his love of sport did not end there as Richard was also a keen darts player. His remains were removed to St Fintan's church, Raheen on Sunday evening, October 28th. Then on bank holiday Monday morning requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr Aherne, PP Abbeyliex and internment took place immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. The large attendance at both ceremonies was a fitting tribute to this quiet and inoffensive man. Richard will be sadly missed by his sisters Maura Duff, London and sheila Devoy, Portlaoise, brothers Tom, Michéal and John, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunts, godfather, nieces, nephews, cousins, St Immaculate and a large circle of friends and neighbours to whom deepest sympathy is extended. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Courtesy of the Leinster Express. November 21, 2007.
