The Late Jim Loughman
Sympathy is expressed to the sister relatives and friends of Jim Loughman 5 Brockley Park, Stradbally and formerly Raheenaniska Vicarstown, who died in Portlaoise General Hospital.
His remains were received into the Church of the Sacred Heart Stradbally. A guard of honour from Stradbally Stream Preservation Society and Annanough GAA Club attended the removal. Burial in Oakvale cemetery.
Jim who lived most of his life in Vicarstown worked as a ranger with the Grand Canal Company. He played football with the Annanough club in the forties 1949 was a busy year with the club qualifying for the Laois junior final, with Jim Loughman at full back. They went down to The Hallow by 2-5 to 1-3.
Later on Jim was a member of the Intermediate panel who won the Intermediate title. Annanough 6-8 Barrowhouse 1-5. He also played with an Area senior team in 1949 called Young Irelands and they qualified for the semi-final that year.
Jim's late father and mother hailed from Rheban. Ar dheis De go raibh a ainm.
