A former footballer John was also a well known inter-County football referee. He ran a very popular grocery and bar business in Ballylinan, a famous GAA haunt where many a Kilkenny supporter called on their way home from Croke Park on Leinster and All-Ireland final day. his late mother of course was a Kilkenny native. John's remains will leave his home at 7.30pm on this Wednesday evening for St. Anne's Church, Ballylinan and burial will take place tomorrow (Thursday). John is mourned by his wife Eileen (nee Fitzgibbon of Portlaoise), sons Denis and Colm, daughters Annette and Olive, brother Mick, sisters Elizabeth, Brigid and Moira.
