The Late Cecil Thompson
The death took place in England of Cecil Thompson formerly of Derrycarew and Derrylahan, Abbeyleix, oldest son of the late Joe and Florrie ( nee Pratt), grandson of the Sam and Emily Pratt, husband of Rose.
His ashes arrived to Abbeyleix Church for service and burial.
The late Cecil was born and reared in Derrycarew and followed in his grand father's footsteps he hurled with Camross and was captain of a team that won county honours.
He proudly displayed the cup in the window of the shop he managed with is granny at the time, later he emigrated to England and made his home over there.
He is sadly mourned by his wife, his mother Florrie, brothers Ken, Joe, Sam, William and Robert, his sisters Muriel, Dorothy and Florence, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, his aunts Mrs Sylvia Lalor Knocknagad, Aphra and Iris, Delaney Family Johnsboro. Sincere sympathy to one and all.
