Tonight's Allianz FL Division 2 victory over Armagh has lifted morale in the Laois camp and Paul Cahillane believes it sets them up nicely for the remainder of the campaign.

Mick Lillis and his players are travelling home with the two points in their back pocket and the Allianz 'man-of-the-match' highlighted what the 1-13 to 0-15 win meant to them following their opening round defeat to Galway.

"It was really important," he remarked.

"Last year we lost the first two games and we were lucky to stay up on the last day so we didn't really want that to happen, especially with how competitive Division 2 is this year.

"Five Ulster teams makes it so hard, so we're delighted to come up here and get the one point win. It's a really good two points for us.

"We're a young team, we've players to come back. A lot of lads are getting their chances and tonight I thought a lot of them took it.

"They were really good against a really good Armagh team so, overall, we're really pleased."
