Damien O'Connor is the latest Laois footballer to fly the O'Moore County nest.

The corner forward, who was substituted at half time during the first-round Leinster SFC defeat to Louth at Portlaoise, will miss the Qualifiers as he has opted to spend the remainder of the summer in the States.

He is the fourth member of Justin McNulty's squad to decide to spend the summer on the other side of the Atlantic, following Gary Walsh, Kevin Meaney and Brendan Quigley.

The draw for the SF Qualifiers it taking place on Monday and a depleted Laois will be amongst the counties taking part in Round One on Saturday fortnight. Tweet
