Plunkett to manage Laois hurlers
December 15, 2012
Laois minor hurling manager Seamus Plunkett
Laois' long search for a new hurling manager is set to end with the appointment of Seamus Plunkett.
Plunkett's name will be put forward for ratification at Monday night's county board meeting. The former county hurler, who guided the O'Moore County minors to a surprise Leinster semi-final appearance this year, will replace Cork dual All-Ireland winner Teddy McCarthy, who spent just one season at the helm. It's understood that ex-county star Paul Cuddy will be part of the new management team.
Ironically, Plunkett and Cuddy had been part of a sub-committee that had been set up to find McCarthy's successor back in September.
Former All Star Pat Critchley is being lined up to replace Plunkett as minor boss, while Tony Doran is set to continue as U21 manager.
