The death took place at his residence on Thursday August 13th of Mr Patrick (Paddy) Sheeran, Main Street, Borris in Ossory.

His remains reposed at his residence until removal to St Canice's Church, Borris in Ossory on Friday evening August 14th. His funeral mass on Saturday morning was con-celebrated by Rev Fr Martin Delaney CC St Canices, Kilkenny, Rev Fr Paddy Carey, CC Rathdowney/Errill, Monsignor Liam Bergin, Rector, Irish College, Rome and Rev Fr Robert Fletcher PP Killoscully, Co Tipperary. His burial took place in the New Cemetery, Borris in Ossory.

He is deeply regretted by his wife Lily, daughter Helen (Kavanagh), sons Edmund, Francis and Canice, son in law Abe, daughters in law Carmel and Mary, sister Kitty (Delaney), grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. At the time of his death Paddy was President of Kyle GAA Club and was also President of Borris in Ossory Fine Gael branch and Borris in Ossory District Executive Fine Gael. He served as a Peace Commissioner for over thirty years.
Guards of honour were provided on both days by Kyle GAA club and by the Fine Gael party. Members of Borris in Ossory branch of Fine Gael carried his remains from his home to the church and the coffin was draped in the blue and white colours of his beloved Kyle Hurling club, with whom he won several county medals including a senior championship medal in 1951.
The late Paddy, who was in his 92nd year, was in the hackney business and ran a successful petrol station/garage in Borris in Ossory.
He transported Primary and Secondary School pupils to and from schools in Roscrea and Borris in Ossory for many years. Large crowds attended his funeral over the three days, testament to the high esteem in which he was held. May he rest in peace.
