Lalor takes over Laois minors
October 24, 2008
The Laois County Board have appointed Denis Lalor as the O'Moore County's new minor football manager for the 2009 season.
The Heath clubman has coached this current minor crop all the way up from Under 14 level and his instalment sees a continuity in the policy of promoting underage structures within the county.
In taking the position, Lalor will be assisted by both Billy Delaney (Stradbally) and Seamus Lalor (Portlaoise).
"It wasn't on my agenda at the start of the year," he admitted. "But I was asked if I would be interested in getting involved, and the more I thought about it the more it appealed to me.
"I suppose I could have kept putting it off and off and waited for the right time to get involved, but the right time never comes around and I felt now was as good a time as any to take the opportunity."
Meanwhile, former Laois minor manager Eddie Kelly has been appointed to the Under 21 football manager's position in the county, with the instalment of both a minor and Under 21 hurling boss currently in the pipeline for the coming weeks.
