Armagh’s demolition of Cavan in round 1 of the Allianz FL Division 2 has put Laois manager Mike Quirke on high alert.

The O’Moore County opened their campaign with a draw against Roscommon last Sunday and the former Kerry midfielder has now switched his focus to the Orchard County ahead of this Saturday’s O’Moore Park round 2 fixture (6pm).

“They looked very impressive,” he told the Irish News.

“I know Cavan are after losing a couple of players but you wouldn’t have expected Armagh to put them to the sword in the way that they did.

“Up front [Conor] Turbitt and a few guys look really, really sharp for the end of January.

“It’s going to be a big ask for us and if they can maintain that kind of form Armagh look like a team that are capable of getting out of the division.”
