This evening (Wednesday) sees the start of the 2018 Laois senior football championship.

Can anyone stop Portlaoise? That is the question on everyone's lips and the general consensus is that it will be very hard to do that.

Having won ten out of the last eleven championships, it is easy to see how the town team are the favourites for yet another title.

They begin their campaign against Ballyfin Gaels at the weekend and should start with a win here.

Stradbally and Arles Kilcruise keep off the campaign in O'Moore Park this evening and this should be an interesting clash.

Then on Saturday, O'Moore Park hosts a double header as Portlaoise meet Ballyfin Gaels at 6pm and this will be followed by St Joseph's v. The Heath at 7.30pm.

Sunday is a busy afternoon as O'Moore Park hosts four games split into two double headers.

First up are Clonaslee St Manman's v. Killeshin at 12.30pm, then Emo v. Arles Killeen at 2pm.

Later that evening, O'Dempsey's face Graiguecullen at 5.30pm and Portarlington meet Ballyroan Abbey at 7pm.
