Laois manager John Sugrue has stressed that Donie Kingston will have to work hard to force his way back into the side.

Kingston revealed over the winter that he was taking a break from inter-county football, but soon did a u-turn citing the opportunity to line out with his brother Paul once again as being the reason for his change of heart.

As one of Laois' most prolific forwards for many years, it was expected that the older Kingston brother would walk back into the team, but Sugrue stressed to the Leinster Express that will not be the case as the experienced forward must show that he still has the appetite for the game.

"A lot of that depends on Donie's application in training, he's come in and he's behind in terms of fitness and he's working away at it, but we're going to have to see more in terms of real intent inside in training, and more in terms of fitness," said Sugrue.

Laois made it two wins from two following Sunday's victory over Leitrim and Sugrue is pleased with the players that he has at his disposal.

"To be fair to the boys who are playing, they are the fellas that are right on form."
