Ryan wary of Mayo

Cork ladies football boss Eamonn Ryan is refusing to underestimate Mayo ahead of this weekend's National League final.

Mayo have returned to the limelight this year and, in Cora Staunton, they have a player who is capable of breaching the tightest of defences.

"Mayo beat a very good Monaghan team in the semi-final and will be all out to beat us on Saturday, but that's the kind of challenge that keeps us going. We'll give it our best shot," he told the Southern Star.

The long-serving manager, who has delivered seven All-Ireland titles to the Rebel County in the last eight years, has no intention of following Manchester United supremo Alex Ferguson's lead by stepping down at the end of the season.

"Why do I keep at it? What else would I be doing? I love it, it's my passion, Gaelic games.

"It's what I do, what I love. I don't see myself ever giving it up, and working with a bunch of players like these girls is the best thing I could be doing.

"Some people think it's all about winning and losing - it's not. Of course I get disappointed when we lose, but I'll be in the field, training, the next day and will carry on."
