Kildangan Nurney Ladies Football Update
February 15, 2010
The underage grading for 2010 was carried out on Thursday night last and with two teams in division 1, it's bound to be competitive for the girls. The Division 1 under 12 league, where Kildangan Nurney are pitted against St'Laurences, Maynooth, Cappagh, Leixlip and Sarsfields commences on 23 April. This team will be mentored by Mary Jo Merrins and Patsy Kelly.
Our Under 14's who also compete in Division 1 thanks to a great Autumn league, will play against the exact same teams as the under 12s. This team will be mentored by John Nealon and Patsy Kelly. The Under 14 league starts on the 12th of April, however a Féile competition will be held on the weekend of 27th March.
Kildangan Nurney under 16s will compete in division 4, against Geraldines, Kilcullen, Kill, Milltown and Robert Emmets. The league for the under 16s starts on the 14th of March and the team will be looked after by John Kilbride and Tracey Rowe.
A new innovation in Ladies football this year will be a series of GO games for Under 10 girls. These games will be non competitive small sided fixtures aimed at introducing girls to football. There is no minimum age limit, and its aimed at being a fun introduction to Gaelic football. Watch this space for further details.
Underage training will recommence in the coming weeks, all existing members will be notified by text. New members are more than welcome. Contact John Kilbride at 0872335109 for details.
Training for girls and ladies age 15 and upwards takes place in Nurney GAA twice a week, Tuesday and Thursdays. Tracey Rowe is co-ordinating things, anyone interested in coming along to train can contact her at 086 6664558
Finally, a note of welcome to our rivals in sport, Monasterevin GAA, who this year will field a number of girls/ladies teams. Go n'éirí an t-ádh leat
