Ephie Fitzgerald has stepped down as Cork manager

Ephie Fitzgerald has stepped down as Cork ladies football manager in the wake of today's All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Dublin.

The Nemo Rangers clubman spent four years at the helm, with the highlight coming in his first year when he led the Rebels to their sixth Brendan Martin Cup on the trot. Cork had won 10 of the previous 11 All-Ireland titles under his predecessor Eamonn Ryan.

Fitzgerald has enjoyed a distinguished managerial career which has seen him win county championships with his beloved Nemo Rangers and Ballylanders of Limerick, while he has also managed the Cork minor footballers and coached the Limerick and Clare senior football teams.
