The Late Jack Brady The death of Jack Brady, Marion Place was heard of with much regret in the parish and wider community. Jack was son of Billy and Catherine Brady and was well known and respected in the area. He spent his life as a mechanic and big and small jobs were tackled with some enthusiasm. His main interests centred on his family and he will be sadly missed by them. He was predeceased by his wife Cassie in the late sixties. Jack played hurling with Bennettsbridge in the late forties and early fifties. He partnered Ger Connolly at centre forward in the Northern final against Danesfort in 1948 and was the winner of a championship medal in the same year. The church was filled to capacity for the reception of remains in St Bennetts church by Canon Patrick Duggan, PP, Rev Olly Maher, St Mary's officiated at the removal. The church choir sang accompanied by Bernadette Marnell. A guard of honour was formed by the local GAA and soccer clubs. Requiem Mass was celebrated by Canon Patrick Duggan PP. The lessons were read by Olwen Brady, Catherine Doyle and Charlene Brady (grandchildren). Jack is survived by his sons Billy, John and Noel; daughters Kathleen, Mary, Helen, Chris, and Margeret; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; brothers Billy, Jim, Francis, and Oliver. He was pre-deceased by his sister Anna some years ago. He is also survived by his sons in law, daughters in law, sister in law, Maisie, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
