The late Billy Gaffney
It was with deep sadness that the people of Tullaroan heard of the death of Billy Gaffney, Reimeen. Billy farmed extensively at Reimeen up until his sickness which he bore with dignity. During his life Billy was a dedicated parishioner and was involved in all parish activities.
In 1958 he won a senior hurling county final medal with Tullaroan. In later years he served as chairman of the hurling club and was Co Board representative for many years, where he served in a number of committies.
Over the last 13 years along with his loyal friends John Walton, Eamon and Dick Holland he travelled all over the country to the Kilkenny hurling matches, where he enjoyed himself immensely.
Tullaroan hurling club formed a guard of honour at his removal to and from the church. Requiem Mass was celebrated by Fr Patsy Guilfoyle PP. Billy was laid to rest in Tullaroan cemetery.
He is survived by his loving wife Bernice, sons Tom and Derek, daughters Paula and Marion, son in law, daughters in law, grandchildren and his sisters Peg, Kathleen, Nellie, Maureen and Martina and all his relations.
