Carr, Timmy

March 21, 2007
The late Timmy Carr The entire area was shocked and saddened at the news of the death of Timmy Carr of Lartigue Road, Ballybunion and formerly of Kilagrvin. A member of a very well known and highly respected family Timmy was known the length and breadth of the county. A man of warm and outgoing personality he was a great conversationalist who was at home in any company. He had a long association with sport serving in many capacities in the GAA in his native Ballydonoghue club and he was also involved with Shannon Rangers Club. He also done a lot promoting underage football in the area and supported his local club where ever they were playing. He also reared and bred many successful greyhounds that won numerous accolades in coursing and on the track. Timmy and his wife Maureen were inseparable and they were always together at nay social or sporting outings they attended. Throughout his life Timmy made a huge contribution to the local community serving in many local clubs and organisations. Coming from a very musical family Timmy had a great love of traditional entertainment and done a lot to promote it through his involvement in Comhaltas. He was also very well known on the local social front and enjoyed supporting local events. He also had a huge interest in amateur dramatics with his wife Maureen a member of the famous Asdee Drama Groups that swept the boards back in the late 1950s and had the proud distinction of winning a national title. A number of years ago Timmy underwent major surgery but recovered from it very well and enjoyed a very good quality of life right up to the time of his sad passing. He had been in good health and his passing will create a void in the area as he was involved in so much in activities in his native parish of Ballydonoughue and made such a huge contribution to the North Kerry area in general. In 2006 he was a very proud man when a big birthday party was thrown for him at The Store Bar in Caughdarrig which is owned by his son Sean. A number of years ago Timmy and his family moved to live in Ballybunion where they made many new friends and got involved in activities in their new parish. Timmy was given a great send off with a full 3 hours of traditional music at his home in Ballybunion where family and friends and neighbours provided the entertainment. It was a session of music that Timmy would have loved and it was very touching that his life was celebrated in this way and every one present were in agreement that it was the way in which he would have loved it to be. The esteem in which Timmy and his family were held locally was reflected in the huge and widely representative congregations that turned out to pay their last respects at the wake at the family home in Ballybunion and again at the removal of his remains from Lynon's Funeral Home in Listowel to St John's Church in Ballybunion. Huge crowds attended the Requiem Mass and internment which took place to Lisselton Cemetery. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Maureen, daughter Kay, sons Michael, Sean, Tadg, Brian and all pother family members and relatives. Courtesy of the Killkenny People 21 March 2007
