Dermody, Mai

October 06, 2006
The late Mai Dermody Sincere sympathy is extended to the Dermody family, Tullyvolty, on the death of their mother, Mai, who died peacefully at St Luke's Hospital. Widow of the late Jim Dermody, her death will be a big source of sorrow and loss to her family. Pre-deceased over the past few years by four of her children, Margaret, Seamus, Sean and Michael. Michael's death came so suddenly it took its toll on Mai, whose health deteriorated over the summer. Always an outgoing person, who was a keen GAA supporter, she was a stalwart to the local Fenian club and looked after their playing kits and welfare for several years. She was grandmother to many of the present team including the Grehans and Dermody's. She was also a well known member of the former Johnstown ICA where she was always willing to lend a hand. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Vincent, Noel, Tom, Terry, Billy and Paul; daughters Mary, Dolores, Pamela, Caroline and Anne; grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Peg, brothers-in-law, daughters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and extended family, neighbours and a large circle of friends. Her remains were removed to St Kieran's Church, Johnstown. Burial was in Johnstown cemetery after Requiem Mass. May she rest in peace. Courtesy of the Kilkenny People 6 October 2006
