The late James Dohney A fun-loving young man who will be remembered for his love of life was killed in a horrific car accident.21-year-old James Doheny enjoyed a great love of hurling and played corner back for the Emeralds of Urlingford. He hurled at under-14, under-16, under-21 and minor level. He was also a member of last year's Special Junior Panel. James worked as an auto electrician at Murphy's Auto Electric's on the Hebron Road, Kilkenny. His employer, Ger Murphy told the Kilkenny People that James's fellow workmates were devastated by the news of the tragedy. "We are all in a state of shock. James worked here for the past three years and we were all mad about him," Mr Murphy said. "He was a lovely young man and a very hard worker. He was very helpful and popular. He was good fun and loved a bit of craic. We are devastated that he is gone and it is hard to make any sense of it," he said. James will be mourned by his heartbroken parents Joseph and Mary, brothers Patrick and Joseph, sister Marietta, grandparents Peg and Pat, girlfriend Serena, uncles, aunts, relatives, co-workers and a large circle of friends. His removal will take place this morning (Wednesday) from his home in Tubrid, Barna. James was killed when the van he was driving was involved in a head-on collision with an oncoming car at Kilcooley, Gortnahoe. A post mortem on his body took place at Waterford General Hospital on Monday. His sister, Marietta who was a passenger in the van was also treated for her injuries at Waterford General Hospital. She suffered a broken ankle, wrist and leg injury. His brother, Patrick was travelling behind the van and had to pull in as he watched the crash unfold. He was uninjured but his car was damaged. The couple travelling in the oncoming car, who are both in their 20's and from Grange, Co. Tipperary were also taken to Waterford General Hospital where they were treated for the injuries. The woman was treated for minor injuries while her husband had his leg badly broken in the crash. James is the fourth person to lose his life on this stretch of road in the last four years.
