The Late Peter Falconer
Peter Falconer, Tobernabrone, Piltown, died tragically at 23 years of age. He was a son of Mary and Eddie Falconer.
Peter's death shocked the community, and came as a severe blow to the Falconer family. Peter was an all round sportsman, he was a member of the Piltown GAA club and had captained the 1998 Minor hurling team.
He was also a member of Carrick-on-Suir boxing club, and was a excellent snooker player with the Piltown club.
He was an avid soccer fan and a true Chelsea supporter. Peter liked music and especially rock music an the music of Nirvana.
He was very friendly. His friends were many, he was a real joker, even at school, and he was always good-humoured and happy. Everybody enjoyed his friendship and he will be sadly missed from the community.
Chief mourners were his parents Eddie and Mary Falconer, Tobernabrone, Piltown; sisters and brothers; Martina, Catriona and John Falconer, Tobernabrone, Thomas Falconer, Australia, Brian Falconer, Waterford and Christopher, Tobernabrone. His niece Laura as well as his uncles, aunts and cousins from the Falconer Family, Tobernabrone, and the Mulcahy family, Ballinacara, Rathgormack, survive him.
The funeral was from Waterford Regional Hospital to Templeorum Church, where Fr Condon assisted Fr. Pascal Moore.
On arrival at the church a guard of honour was formed by members of teh GAA club. The Requiem Mass was celebrated by Fr Moore, with Canon Grace, Canon O'Dwyer, Fr Magner, Fr Dollard, Fr Condon and Rev George Cliffe.
The readings were by Ann Scahill and Claire Falconer. Prayers of the faithful were recited by Laura Scahill, Colm Butler, Marie O'Hanrahan, Bridget Nugent, Bernie O'Sullivan and Christopher Falconer.
During the offertory procession the gifts were carried to the altar by his brothers, sisters and a friend.
Catriona presented a hurley, John, a sliothar, Brian, a snooker cue, his boxing club friend, a pair of boxing gloves; Thomas the bread and Martina carried the wine.
During Mass the parish choir sang and Margaret Lower played the organ. A divine version of Amazing Grace was sung by Richard Nugent.
A the end of the Mass, Bernie O'Keeffe paid tribute to all those that helped the family during their sad time. Hundreds of mourners were present for both the removal and burial proving how esteemed the Falconer and Mulcahy families are held in the locality.
