Former Kilkenny hurler John Dalton is adamant that Carrickshock have what it takes to go all the way in the All-Ireland IHC series.

Last weekend, the Kilkenny champions staged a remarkable late recovery to defeat Kildare side Celbridge.

It was a heartbreaking defeat for the Kildare side, but one that sparked scenes of jubilations for Dalton and his team mates.

The defender made his way forward to score a late goal and set up a score in the comeback and he told the Kilkenny People that they will enjoy the Christmas before focusing on the All-Ireland semi-final.

"We will enjoy Christmas now. Over the years we have probably struggled coming towards the end of matches. It was nice to turn things around in the fashion we did," said Dalton.

"A lot of people talk about that aspect of our play, that we can fade at times, and perhaps it is right. But we changed things this time.

"We have a bigger prize than this on our minds. This is a stepping stone. We wouldn't be happy with that display. That display wasn't good enough. We would expect more of ourselves.

He concluded: "We are Leinster champions now, and come the New Year we will push on again."
