TJ Reid is expected to be available for Kilkenny's Leinster SHC quarter-final against Offaly on June 9 after playing his game in nearly eight months at the weekend.

The highly-rated forward, who shattered his kneecap in last year's All-Ireland final replay victory over Galway, played the full 60 minutes for Ballyhale Shamrocks in their 2-17 to 0-7 defeat of Richie Hogan's Danesfort in the second round of the SHL.

The 25-year-old marked his return by scoring a goal (he also had a penalty saved) and is set to get further game-time under his belt when the third round games take place next weekend.

In a further boost for the Cats, Richie Power returned to action for Carrickshock in their 2-16 to 2-13 win over St. Martin's. Power missed last Sunday week's Allianz Hurling League final against Tipperary with fractured ribs.
