Colin Fennelly's nerves were jangling as he collected the NHL trophy.

Fennelly is the latest Ballyhale Shamrocks player to be honoured with the Black & Amber captaincy and he got to make an acceptance speech at Nowlan Park on Sunday, something he could be doing again later in the year:

"A lot of lads look up to you and they expect that your game is going to come up," the 23-year-old attacker says of the captain's role in The Irish Daily Mirror.

"They look up to you in matches. I haven't really brought it but you see other lads bringing the game and hopefully in future I will bring it. I'll be working towards it.

"The nerves are there alright. I didn't prepare any speech or anything like that. I just walked up and, even standing up there, the nerves were there.

"I lifted the cup and I was delighted to do that. It's a big thing being captain and that's all to do with the club.

"We're going into championship now and our next game is in Leinster so I'll be looking to keep my spot."
