Cats won't appeal Delaney ban

May 06, 2013

Kilkenny's JJ Delaney and Lar Corbett of Tipperary get to know each other before been issued with red cards during the NHL decider at Nowlan Park. INPHO
Selector Michael Dempsey indicated that Kilkenny won't be appealing the straight red card JJ Delaney picked up during the Allianz Hurling League final.

The full back was sent off along with Tipp's Lar Corbett following an off-the-ball incident in the 45th minute, and is facing a one-match ban which will rule him out of the All-Ireland champions' Leinster SHC quarter-final against Offaly in Tullamore on June 9.

"Obviously we have a serious game in five weeks with Offaly," Dempsey said.

"JJ is a huge loss - I thought he was majestic while he was on the pitch. I didn't see the incident, but he's a huge loss. We'll just have to get on with it."
