Saunders, Jane

October 12, 2012
Jane Saunders, Grove Terrace who passed away this week. Jane was a true supporter of everyone; she cared deeply for every member of the Ballyragget parish and all her friends, work colleagues and Olympic team mates. She had a kind word for everyone and was always in good spirits.

She will be deeply missed by her family, her parents Pat and Bridie, her brother John, nephew Luke, friends and neighbours. She supported the hurling, football and camogie tams of the parish and was there at each and every game this year as St. Patricks went on to win the Club All Ireland in Croke Park. She attended the semi final in Nenagh on the eve of the departure for the European Championships and was back to support them on the big day in Croke Park and indeed was front and centre stage at the homecoming.

This year was truly a great year for Jane in her love for GAA, as her top three teams all won All Ireland titles, Ballyragget firstly followed by her mother's native Donegal and finally Kilkenny. Jane brought great honour to the town of Ballyragget when she won silver and bronze medals in the Olympic Games. She will be missed around the town waiting for the morning bus to work in the Brewery or SOS with her paper under her arm, walking her beloved dog Rosie, and at Sunday morning mass lighting candles before and chatting with all after. Indeed the huge crowds who attended her rosary, removal and funeral mass were a testament to the lives she touched in her short time here. Godspeed Jane and take care.
