Wall, Michael

July 09, 2010
The city has lost one of its very best with the sudden death of High Street draper and sponsor of successive Kilkenny senior hurling teams, Michael Wall.

The 69 year old leaves a huge void following his death in St Vincent's Hospital, Dublin in the early hours of Friday morning. He ran Frank Wall's, The Man's Shop for over 50 years and was synonymous with the business life of the city but he was better known for his generosity to every good cause in the city and county. He believed in people and it was a testimony to him that his customers kept coming back. Loyalty was one of his great traits. Most of all, he was a family man who was an integral part of life in Kilkenny.

He ran more than just a shop it was a great place for a chat on politics, sport, whatever was topical.
He was a great follower of Kilkenny hurling teams and tennis was his other great sporting love.
He is survived by his heartbroken wife, Elizabeth; daugthers Margaret and Hilda and by his brothers and sisters; Claire, Justin, Noreen, Joe and Patricia. He was interred in St Kieran's Cemetery after requiem mass in St John's Church on Sunday.
