He retired to the sleepy village of Danbury in Essex where he spent the last 27 years of his life, becoming a valued member of the community, enjoyed friends, gardening and watching sport.

He frequently returned home to visit much cherished family and friends; he spent some of his happiest times in and around the Thomastown area. An Inspiration, a Father and a Best Friend, he will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he has been part of.
