The Late Jack Stapleton

Durrow and surrounding parishes were shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of John, better known as Jack Stapleton, Kylebeg, Durrow. A great sportsman Jack was involved in many sports and excelled in all. In his early days Jack was a great hurler and he played for Ballacolla and Ballinakill, he was superb boxer and won many awards with the Durrow Boxing Club.

John then became a top class GAA referee and officiated at games all over the country. In latter years he enjoyed playing golf. Jack is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Margaret, sons John and Anthony, grandchildren, son in law, daughter in law, nieces, nephews, sisters Margaret and Ann, relatives and a huge circle of friends and neighbours. Guards of honour were given by Clogh/ Ballacolla and Ballinakill GAA Clubs, GAA Referees Association and Abbeyleix Golf Club.

Following Requiem Mass in Ballacolla his remains were laid to rest in Ballinakill Graveyard. The huge attendance that called to the house, attended the removal and burial paid their last respect to a lovely man and offered their sympathies to Mary and family on their huge loss. May he rest in peace.
