Ryan, Pat

October 30, 2008
Pat Ryan, a well known figure in the motor business, passed away recently at the early age of 56. A proud Kilkenny man, Pat moved to Dublin when he finished school and started his motor trade career with Traynor's Garage in Newbridge in 1972, driving from Rathfarnham to Newbridge every day in his Hillman Avenger. However, it is with the Crawford Group in South Dublin that he was mainly associated, spending 30 years there as salesman, sales manager and Sales Director for Opel and Honda. He joined Spirit Motor Group in 2005 with responsibility for aftersales business development for the Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo dealership. Pat's sporting love was the GAA, particularly his own club Ballyboden St. Enda's. He found no contradiction in cheering for Kilkenny hurlers and Dublin footballers and then slipping over to Elland Road to support Leeds United. In his younger years he was also a well known squash player in Leopardstown. Pat was very popular with his colleagues in the motor trade and is sadly missed. He is survived by his wife Mary and children Keith, Shane, Emma, Alan and grandson, Jack. Kilkenny People, October 2008
