Walsh relishing opportunity

Limerick's Dan Morrissey with Walter Walsh of Kilkenny

Kilkenny’s Walter Walsh says being written off all year has served as a motivational factor for the Cats.

Brian Cody’s side prepare for another All-Ireland final date tihis Sunday and Walsh, who struck 0-2 from wing forward in his county’s semi-final win over Limerick, is hopeful that the motivation gained this season can take them to glory against old rivals Tipperary on Sunday.

“I suppose a lot of people would have written us off at the start of the year and even throughout the year, so it definitely was a motivating factor and we used it as a positive,” he told the Irish Daily Star.

“When I came on to the panel it was the norm to be in an All-Ireland final, it was expected, not that we took it for granted.

“We really appreciate it and relish the opportunity to win the All-Ireland.”
